Jodie Gilbert Granted Stay Of Proceedings

New South Wales greyhound trainer Jodie Gilbert has been granted a stay of proceedings pending an appeal against her 12 month disqualification for a positive swab.

Two weeks ago Gilbert pleaded guilty to presenting for the racing when not free of any . The subsequent routine swab sample was found to contain .

Before the , Gilbert was disqualified for a period of twelve months, until 25 September 2010, and fined $1100. The commencement of the disqualification was deferred until 26 September 2009 due to her personal circumstances.

Before the Appeals Tribunal, Gilbert has appealed her 12 month disqualification which was due to commence on 26 September 2009. Due to the pending appeal, Judge Haylen has granted a Stay of Proceeding until the appeal has been heard.

Effectively the stay of proceedings allows Gilbert to continue training until the appeal is heard.

A date for the appeal is yet to be set.
