The finals of both Bathurst’s feature races were held on Monday night’s twelve race Australia Day card.
Sonny’s Boy repeated the dose with a fast finishing 17.78 victory over Laurie’s Mate and Medium Pace. Kaliandra derived huge benefit from her heat run leading throughout to hold off Uncomprising by a head in 26.30 with Hot Fuzz third.
Portland mentor Carolyn Hore snared a winning double with Our Rebound who got the line stoutly in 26.51 whilst Kara’s Princess made it two straight over the longs with a hollow all the way 36.89 gallop.
Track record holder Bells Fair almost eclipsed his 307m mark with a sizzling 17.51 romp over Dana Tee and Miss Red Fox. It was the Mark Vella trained sprint king’s eighteenth success on the Bathurst track and he has now won twelve from fourteen over his pet short-course trip.
Kayla Enlim overcame an early check and made it two features in just three days claiming the John Fitzgerald Memorial in 26.44 for Bob Milne.
Out Of Uniform landed some good bets in a comfortable 17.80 gallop to down Brandy Rose and Almost Invisible for Jason Keller of Londonderry.
Another impressive maiden winner was Mark Wicks’ Ryan’s Forest who scored in a very nippy 17.70.
Carrado Gerrico broke through for Mudgee conditioner Kevin Brennan posting 17.98. All three of these greyhounds will be worth watching when they step up over more distance.
Race eleven was reduced to just a field of four and Rod McDonald was at it again as his charge Best Player finished too well to down the heavily backed My Girl Lucy in 26.60.
Tollmax gave Earl Anderson another winner when he was never headed in securing the last in 18.01 ahead of Magic Mirage and Fair Collision.
The Bathurst club will break new ground at that meeting with all races to be held under the NZ Finish-on format.
