Eight Hotels from the Maitland District will take part in a “Hotel Challenge Series” to be run at the Maitland Greyhound Track at the Showground in August.
Each of the 8 Hotels will be allotted a greyhound after the heats are run on the 14/8/08 to compete in the final on the 21/8/08. On the 14th Maitland City Council will be the main sponsor on this night sponsoring the Maitland City Council Cup for the best 8 greyhounds nominated over the 450 m. A presentation will be made to the winning connections by the Major of Maitland Mr Peter Blackmore.
On the final night the 21/8/08 representatives from each hotel will be invited on course to watch the final and partake in the refreshments supplied by the greyhound club. The Hotel which draws the winning greyhound for the final will receive a perpetual trophy and their representative will get to make a presentation to the winning connections of the greyhound.
A photo of the presentation will also be given to the winning Hotel, The perpetual trophy will remain in the winning Hotel for a period of 12months until challenged for next year.
Maitland Greyhounds race each Thursday at the showground between 4pm – 7pm (twilight meetings).
