Lochinvar Marlow To Surf Back To The Winners List At The Gardens

Local star sprinter Lochinvar Marlow will be trying to break back into the winners circle in the Hunter Life Saving Cup (race six) at this afternoon’s excellent meeting at The Gardens.

The outstanding son of Bombastic Shiraz and Sensation Lee put back to back wins together at Wentworth Park on February 26 and April 6, but has been winless in his next four starts.

Today however, back to his favourite track, The Gardens, where the Robert Smith trained speedster has won four out of six starts; Lochinvar Marlow looks hard to stop in the feature event despite racing against quality opposition.

Lochinvar Marlow has built an imposing record of eight wins from only 15 outings, including the Laurie Healon Memorial Final at his third race start, running a sensational 29.43 for the course and distance of today’s event.

Also today, champion trainer Reg Kay and his partner Julie Edmondson will line up three runners, after they took out another Hunter Valley Feature last night, the 25,000-to-the-winner Maitland Cup with star chaser Elite Blue Size.

The pair will box Heza Nice Size (box four) and Size It Up (box eight) in race five, The Greyhound Recorder Stake, as well as She’s Joken (box six) in the final event, the Saturday Night Racing @ The Gardens 17/4. All Three gallopers have excellent chances of winning and will be at the top of the markets with punters.

Today’s meeting is also the annual Hunter Life Saving Charity race day. Since its inception, the meeting has gone from strength to strength and is a great way to acknowledge the wonderful work that is carried out by the Hunter Surf Life Saving Clubs and a chance to raise considerable funds to help the local clubs to keep our coastlines safe and fun.

It’s always a great day as 13 separate clubs converge on The Gardens. There will be a welcome presentation by NCA, followed by a parade involving all the clubs that make up the Hunter Surf Life Saving Association, from as far north as Hawks Nest, right down to Catherine Hill Bay, with Life Members to Under 8’s to Masters all participating. There will also be retired race greyhounds mixing with the crowd.

You can get bet love on this afternoon’s bumper program at The Gardens at Sportsbet or Iasbet, with the first race of the twilight meeting scheduled to kick off at 3.54pm AEST
