Montana Belle Draws Perfect Box

NSW NCA owner-trainer Greg Board couldn't be happier with his prospects for Saturday's $4000 Gold Cup (457m) after his Cup hope, Montana Belle, drew box one in the feature race this week.

“We want an inside box badly,” Board said after last Saturday's Cup heat win.

The white and black bitch drew seven in the heat, winning in 26.13secs.

He said Montana Belle would appreciate the inside draw much more in this Saturday's Cup final.

Montana Belle won her ninth race at Tamworth last Saturday in a short career which has also brought a Cup her way.

“We've had a lot of luck lately,” Board said.

“I won the Cup (Spring Smile) and won the with her. She's a good dog.

“I first came to Tamworth a few years ago with a real good dog, Spring Secret.

“He ran second in an Easter Egg, won a and was second in a .

“We brought her to Tamworth last week to give her a look at the track too.”

That “look” resulted in a good heat win and may earn Cup success on Saturday.

Cessnock dog Sins Spirit, the fastest qualifier (25.786secs) last Saturday, needed an outside draw to produce his best, handler John Crossley said.

Sins Spirit drew box two while the other heat winner, Cross Me Not (Louise McGee), drew the eight.

Aberdeen's has Our Elite Belle in the Cup as well as the two reserves, and .

It's a big week for the Tamworth NCA Greyhound Racing Club too with tonight's 10-race meeting highlighted by the Mighty Maiden Final and five heats of the Cup Carnival Novice.
