Northfield And Staples Train Casino Doubles

Two local trainers shared winning doubles as the exciting racing continued at Queen Elizabeth Park last Friday.

landed his first winning TAB “pair” with Propela and both saluting. Propela, a son of the well performed Soottee, raced around the pack in the back section before recording a 2 1/4 length win in 23.68, whilst Dellemma Solved made a long and searching run from the back of the track to hit the lead on the home bend.

He held on to score by 3/4 length in 27.75, the best time over the 484 metres.

Not to be outdone, then got into the “action” with litter sisters Proper Lucy and Hillcrest Gwen both winning. Proper Lucy opened proceedings with an all of the way win in the Richmond Bakery maiden. This promising puppy raced away to win by 6 1/2 lengths in a very good 23.08. Following on, Hillcrest Gwen showed good pace to also lead throughout in 23.32. She is owned by first timers Doug and Gwen King, and progressed to the rich Maiden final worth $4000 to next week’s winner.

The other semi final of the maiden went to Hayden’s Run who clocked 23.05. The prepared runner dwelt slightly at the start, but was able to power through to take up the running as the went into the back. He beat by 4 1/2 lengths.

The well performed Allegro Charm made a “one act affair” of the distance race by exploding to the lead on box rise. It was a case of the further they went, the further Allegro Charm raced away. When the judge called a halt she had won by 8 1/4 lengths in 35.27 only 1/ 100th outside the track record. The time was a fantastic effort on a track that had endured plenty of moisture throughout the week. The old maestro owns and trains her.

Another to impress was Peter and ’s Spin Me Around. Like Allegro Charm, he came out running, and after 50 metres or so the race was all over. He won by seven lengths clocking a fast 23.12.

Mick Goulding had a welcome change of luck when Sudoku Prince landed the “money” in the Casino Rural Traders maiden. He got along the fence late in the affair to score by a neck in 24.02. The win would have been a good fillup for Mick’s wife Anne, who hasn’t been in the best of health lately.

In other events, veteran performer She Rose Hi railed through on the circle to win in 23.18 for ; Warra Park broke his “duck” in winning the 484 metre maiden in 27.87 for ; Sunarian ran 28.08 for visitor Graeme Dunn, and On Display careered away with the final event in 23.39 for Ron Mc Calman.

The Rapidvite maiden final will highlight another 12 event card this Friday.
