Nowra Back In TAB Spotlight This Afternoon

Glen MidsonTHE is back in action this afternoon. For the next seven weeks the club will race with TAB and coverage on Wednesday afternoons at its Pinebowl Complex, just off Albatross Road.

Racing will be staged in the twilight with 10 races set down for this afternoon.

Shoalhaven Greyhound Racing Club secretary manager Glenn Midson said he's looking forward to being back racing under TAB status.

“It's important,” he said.

“For a start, as a club it allows us to increase our prizemoney.

“It's about a 300 per cent increase – we go from around $250 for a win up to $750.

“That in turn attracts quality dogs and more entries for each meeting.

“We will also be holding a few thousand dollar races in coming weeks.”

Mr Midson said racing in the country areas at the moment is some of the strongest he's seen.

“There are some superb dogs going around in the country areas,” he said.

“And they certainly travel more when there is big money around.”

The first race is set to jump at the Pinebowl 3.52pm and the last at 6.38pm.
