After an injuy plagued start to his career, Pretty Knocka finally hit his straps with a good maiden win at Casino last Friday. Trainer Chris Supple has continued to oversee and overcome the nagging problems, and now being in fine fettle, he came out running to lead all of the way in a handy 23.55.
Colleen and Bill Northfield own the black dog who is a litter brother to the highly promising Pretty Norris. The win would be a great confidence booster, and he now should progress through the ranks.
The unusually named Miss Grug came out running to win the Supervite Hi Performance stake. The win was never in doubt after she got to the lead, and when the judge called a halt she had scored by 6 1/4 lengths.
The time of 27.82 was very competitive on a heavy track. She is owned by the Nice Entry Syndicate, and when quizzed on the dog’s name, trainer Margaret Dwyer explained that she is named after the nickname of one of that syndicate.
The Betfair Blue Paws final was won by the Peter Simpson trained Sobbing Promise. She was the fastest qualifier, and, as she did in her heat, had the five box. She was the best to begin, and led from the first turn to clock 27.79. It was her fourth start, and in three of them has worn the yellow rug.
Club President Mitch Northfield would have celebrated the festive season in fine style with two winners on the day. He owns and trains Late Kooringa who pushed hard to lead at the first bend before racing clear to win by 5 1/2 lengths in 27.85, while in the following race, Kooringa Squirt led all of the way and held off Bralyn Sal to win by head in 23.25. Jake and Glen Nortfield prepare her.
Neil Falls returned to the winners list when Yeah I Know steamed home to score by 3/4 length in 23.63, whilst the Dave King owned, and Beryl Stephens trained, Karanne Star ran the best of the day – 23.15, in winning by 4 1/2 lengths.
Tallow Beach seems to reserve her best for the Casino track, where she has won or been placed seven times from eight starts. She won the Rapidvite distance stake in a blanket finish running 36.36.
Pat Lavis’ Peg Rose Hi was never headed in winning the Casino RSM Club Free For All in 27.86, and Cruzin’ Breeze railed through down the back to win the Madsen’s Meats 5th grade in 23.67. Graeme Dunn is her owner / trainer.
Maja Meg was never headed in the opening race clocking 23.63, while No Force seemed to have benefitted from her one run at Casino when she ran 28.61 for Lesley Green.
The Casino club is now in recess until January 21st. Track maintainence will take place in that time.
