Shakey Jakey’s Brother Long Range Breaks Dubbo Track Record

The success of David Pringle’s amazing Collision – Kiacatoo Pearl (History Lesson – Naughty Thoughts) litter continued today when Long Range set a new track record over 516 metres at Dubbo in just his second race start.

Long Range is a litter-brother to new Wentworth Park track record holder Shakey Jakey, who sizzled around the Glebe circuit in 29.07 last Sunday afternoon.

Long Range’s Dubbo run was simply scintillating. Beginning only fairly from box one, the hulking 35kg black dog saw a space at the first turn and speared through, opening up a space in the twinkling of any eye before careering away to score by 12 1/4 lengths in 29.63 shearing 0.08 off Out Back’s old record. Pringle was understandably happy with the run.

“It was a good run, they are good dogs and we expect them to run good,” he said.

“He absolutely loves Dubbo. He trials about 29.8 there most of the time and the track was good today.”

It was Long Range’s second win from as many starts after a 31.12 Richmond maiden win when he found trouble early.

“He was trialling well at Richmond, he had gone about 30.70 there, but he found a bit of trouble in his race. Then we took him to Wentworth Park where he trialled 30.12, but he really loves Dubbo.”

Local trainers will know they’re up against a good one with Pringle announcing that Long Range will be back at Dubbo next time out.

“There’s a 0-2 event there worth $10,000 coming up so he will be going in that.”

“After that, we may look at Bulli or Maitland, those tracks should suit him down to the ground. I actually thought Richmond would too. But we will probably trial him at Bulli and see how he goes there.”

There was also more news to come out of the Pringle camp, with another precocious star from the same litter sold yesterday.

“Black Jack Billy was sold yesterday, Luke Azzopardi has him now. They are climbing out of the trees to try and buy these dogs.”

One thing is for sure, the Collision – Kiacatoo Pearl litter is one of the most exciting prospects in Australian greyhound racing at the moment and there is little doubt that they are set to make more headlines in the coming months.
