ALAN Proctor believes his promising youngster Sheez My Chicki (My Bro Fabio x Miss Chicki Jan '16) is capable of improvement heading into this week's Listed Globe Memorial Maiden (535m) at Richmond after a handy win in her semi-final on night.

Jumping well from box two in her qualifier, Sheez My Chicki raced straight to the front and, despite being hampered by Blocker Tifia (Banjo Boy x Tifia Feb '16) in the run to the first turn, the black bitch was able to catch a break on her opposition through the catching pen.

Once she got a clear run it was a case of times and margins, with the youngster stretching out to win by six and one quarter lengths over Winsome Express ( x Winsome Amanda Apr '16) in 30.84.

Proctor said he was impressed with the triumph, her second win at start three, having also won her heat of the series in a fair 31.10.

“I've always liked this bitch – [Friday] night was only her third 500 and she is improving with every start,” Proctor told Australian Racing Greyhound.

“You can't see it as well on the TV, but if you watch the head-on you see that she got belted a few times from Blocker Tifia in the early stages too – so she did a good job to recover from that and win like she did.”

Owned by Michael Jones, Sheez My Chicki will jump from box two in the final and will come up against some talented types including fellow semi-final winners Abundant Aussie (My Bro Fabio x Hidden Assets Oct '15), Two Times Twice (Fernando Bale x Chica Destacada Apr '16) and Blitzem Miah ( x Fantastic Rose Dec '15) which clocked 30.93, 30.68 and 31.02 respectively.

Proctor said he is pleased to have drawn the inside and gives his charge a chance of claiming the $15,000 to the winner event.

“This is a very good final. John Finn's dog in box four [Two Times Twice] is the dog to beat and dog in box one [Tear Town] has a lot of early speed.

“It will be tough, but I give her a good show. If she can begin like she has at her last two starts then she should be up near the front early.

“I am happy with box two – I expect Michael Ivers' dog to lead, but I am hoping she can get close up behind it in the early stages. If she can I think she will find a little bit extra at the finish.”

The Globe Memorial Maiden will be run and won at Richmond next Friday night.
