Surfs Up At The Gardens

Surf life saving is part of the Australian psyche, and from modest beginnings surf life saving now has more than 80,000 members in more than 260 clubs around Australia.

Newcastle is one of the most famous beach cities in Australian and tomorrow () will play host to the Hunter Surf Life Saving Association, for their annual race day.

Since its inception, the race day has been an opportunity to acknowledge the wonderful work that is carried out by the Hunter Surf Life Saving Clubs and a chance to raise considerable funds to help the local clubs to keep our coastlines safe and fun.

In the Hunter Valley 13 separate clubs combine to make our beaches some of the safest in the world. The Hunter Surf Life Saving Association includes clubs from as far as Hawks Nest, right down to Catherine Hill Bay with all clubs to be represented at The Gardens.

The day will include a welcome presentation by NCA, followed by a parade involving all the participating clubs with representatives from Life Members to Under 8's to . There will also be some retired race greyhounds mixing with the crowd.
