White’s Hard Work May Give Him The Paua To Roar

is no stranger to success in feature events both as a trainer and breeder.

The charismatic Hill mentor's overflowing list of achievements are highlighted by his prolific producer Alice Dooley and bitch .

This Saturday night he will line up two finalists in the Three Sportingbet . Paua To Roar, who will exit box one, is a descendant of White's successful line and a grandson of the aforementioned Paua To Burn and is raced by Steve and his wife Kerrie. Tommy Brislane will exit the six alley, who White prepares for owner Geoff Slattery.

When ARG caught up with White, he explained some of the hurdles he has faced with Paua To Roar in the lead-up to the big final and hinted that he may be even better come Saturday evening.

“I have had some hiccups with him in the last six weeks with tonsillitis, he has been choking up in the last bit getting to the line,” White said about his son of Head Bound and Paua To Erupt (Spiral Nikita – Paua To Burn).

“The last four or five weeks, they have become a real nuisance, they have been really inflamed after each run. But I have taken a few different measures this week with him. I checked them today (Thursday) and they are actually back to a pale pink, so that is a good sign. He is well boxed and he has got plenty of pace, so hopefully I've done enough to get him over the line. He can run really good sections.”

Both of White's runners are blessed with early speed and could dictate the outcome of the race from box-rise. He finds it hard to split the pair, saying they have always been very close to each other ability-wise.

“They both look to be good chances, we just hope they get out of the boxes and then we will see what happens after that. Tommy Brislane has not been in any good boxes yet but he has good pace. I think the pace is between him, Paua To Roar and the three (Brasko Khan). There has always only been a length between Tommy Brislane and Paua To Roar, no matter where I have trialled them.”

Come 7:47pm this Saturday night, there may well be another Group success headed to Nowra Hill, and a tonsil tonic could give Steve White the Paua To Roar.
