Werrington trainer Lynne Aldous nominated for the heats on September 4 but with insufficient nominations for heats the NSW GBOTA called for fresh nominations to conduct the final as a straight out NG Best 8 on September 11.
Dogs originally nominating for the heats, including Your Signature were drawn in a straight our event on September 4, needing to renominate if they wished to contest for the straight out final the following week.
Your Signature was a scratching on September 4, and was only permitted to contest the final after GRNSW Stewards reduced the incapacitation certificate originally issued.
Only 6 contested the final after the scratching of Devine Nation and Chilli Pug. Handled by Lynne’s husband John, Your Signature with the advantage of box 1 and boasting the quickest win (42.24) of all the finalists over the testing 720 metres at headquarters, went out as favourite at $2.80 marginally ahead of Nationals Distance Champion Blue Lorian at $2.90.
After jumping straight to the front Your Signature gave nothing else a chance to win effortlessly in a slick 42.43. Chilli Jim trained by Ken Burnett and which was the $28.60 outsider of the field ran on from the rear for second beaten 4 lengths with Slick Lee ($11.00) for Keith Pedrana 3 ¼ lengths back in third. Salvatore ran fourth followed by Blue Lorian and Forty Twenty.
Lynne and husband John were absolutely delighted with the win. Lynne said she had worked very hard to ensure her greyhound was in the best shape possible for the final after the recent set back.
