Peita Duncan named new Greyhound Racing Victoria Chair
The Victorian Andrews Labor Government has appointed Peita Duncan as chair of Greyhound Racing Victoria, and reappointed fellow board member Emmett Dunne for two further years.
Minister for Racing Martin Pakula congratulated Ms Duncan and Mr Dunne, saying they had served the GRV board with distinction.
Ms Duncan has been acting GRV chair for several months and now takes over permanently from Bernie Carolan, who stepped down on June 30 following four years in the position.
Ms Duncan has extensive experience in business development, sales and management and has helped steer the greyhound industry through significant reform.
Mr Dunne served as a police officer for 40 years and retired at the rank of assistant commissioner. He is an acknowledged expert in the area of integrity and has been a member of the GRV board since 2016.
Mr Dunne is also a vice-president of the Richmond Football Club and was a member of the Tigers' 1980 premiership team.
The Victorian greyhound racing industry generates $500 million annually for the Victorian economy and helps sustain more than 4,300 full-time-equivalent jobs.
Ms Duncan's appointment as GRV chair is effective until July 2021.
New GRV Chair Pet Duncan said “I'm proud of the work we have done to strengthen and reinvigorate greyhound racing in Victoria and I'm thrilled to now have the opportunity to serve as chair and lead our continuing progress.”.
