Peter Mosman on the cards for Tiempo Dinero after Nowra win

DONNA Campbell is hopeful her plans of contesting the Peter Mosman Classic (520m) at in June will come to fruition after her promising greyhound scored a big win in Monday night's Summer Puppy Classic (520m) at .

One of three greyhounds in the final for Campbell, Tiempo Dinero began safely from box three and was able to gather momentum through the first turn in second spot behind the speedy (box one).

Off the back it was a race in two, with Tiempo Dinero storming down the centre of the track in the home straight to score by three lengths in 30.05.

Campbell, who has 10 greyhounds in work at her Belimbla Park property, says she couldn't be happier with her heavyweight performer.

“He did all he had to do – we couldn't ask for much more of him,” Campbell told Australian Racing Greyhound.

“He jumped pretty well for him – he is a 40-kilogram dog, so it takes a while for him to get his legs working underneath him.

“There were a few moments when Tiny Terror skipped away when I didn't think he'd be able to run her down – but once he swung for home he was just too good.

“He is a real race dog – although he is only a pup he is a professional at what he does.

“It was a huge moment – it was great.”

The win was a case of fate, with a failed attempt at withdrawing Tiempo Dinero from the Puppy Classic now a blessing.

“I gave him a couple of post to posts at Nowra and he never looked comfortable and he didn't run any time.

“I told the boys that own him and we decided to pull his nomination out of the series.

“I asked Glen Midson [from Nowra] to take his nomination out for me, but he told me the list of nominations had already been sent to .

“Now we are saying ‘thank god for that' – it was fate because we obviously didn't end up scratching him and he went on to win the series.

“Hindsight is a wonderful thing – it was obviously meant to be.”

Tiempo Dinero is a member of the promising x Time And Money litter, with his brother, , and sister, La Chica Pequena, also contesting the final on Monday night.

Campbell says all three are still getting better and is hoping there are big things to come in the future.

“They have always shown ability – La Chica Pequena won her first race at 16 months of age and although the boys have taken a bit longer because they are so big – they have always done everything right.

“I think they are going to develop into very nice dogs. Being a 40-kilogram dog I still think there is some improvement in Tiempo Dinero because every time we put a clock on him he gets faster.

“Going into the heats he had only ever had a post to post at Nowra – none of them had ever gone over 500m prior to this series so you would think they are only going to get better.

“I don't think we'll see the best of them for another six months.”

Campbell thanked the owners of her litter mates for the opportunity to train the talented trio, in addition to the Nowra Club for putting on another successful edition of the series.

With six wins and three minors from 10 starts beside his name, Campbell says she now plans on taking Tiempo Dinero through the grades on provincial tracks before heading to headquarters for a crack at further group glory in the near future.

“Because of his size he tends to get a bit sore in the metacarpals when he races around tight tracks so I think we will head back to where they have 515m heats on soon,” she said.

“Eventually we'll head to Wentworth Park – the Peter Mosman is coming up at Wentworth Park in a few months so we will probably have a crack at that when the time comes.

“He has got a lot of ability so hopefully he keeps doing what he is doing and I think he will be a very nice dog.”
