Positive swab cloud hangs over Peter Mosman finalist Zipping Zeek

The NSW Greyhound Welfare and Commission () has just released details of a pending inquiry in to a permanently banned substance found in a swab taken from 2020 1 Peter Mosman finalist .

Trained by Jason Magri and owned by Martin and , the greyhound tested positive in an out-of-competition swab to a permanently banned substance the day after finishing second behind in the Peter Mosman semi-final.

The second placing qualified Zipping Zeek for Peter Mosman final, where he finished fifth. The race and its $75,000 grand prize were won by Playlist for Victorian trainer .

Zipping Zeek, who raced as recently as two weeks ago, has won 10 of his 19 starts, with a placing and $44,500 in prizemoney to his name.

GWIC has not named the permanently banned substance found in the swab but has placed trainer Magri under interim suspension, meaning he will be unable to race greyhounds until the inquiry is finalised.

Magri had been in a hot vein of form, winning with four of his last five kennel starters with Lenny Cortex, Zipping Junior, What A Debacle and .

Magri has a right to appeal the interim suspension decision.
