Promising Win For Light Of Trey At Casino

Promising puppy Light Of Trey took full advantage of some early scrimmaging to race away with the Casino Rural Traders Christmas Maiden Final last Friday.

Jumping from box two, he was able to position himself on the fence early to stay out of trouble and get a clear passage to the back section.

Chasing keenly to the line, he won by 6 1/4 lengths in a handy 23.12. Peter Simpson trains this 36 kilo dog for Matthew King, and his future looks very bright.

Mystic Rumble kept the favourite backers happy when he took out the other feature race, the Vesuvio @Stud . As expected, the speedy Rapid Puzzle was able to lead early, but when Mystic Rumble got away from the pack to go out in hot pursuit of the leader, she looked in trouble. Mystic Rumble grabbed the lead on the circle and held the determined Rapid Puzzle in the run to the wire to win by a length in 22.81. The winner has now won five from five over the 411 metre course at Casino.

Talking of consistency, Tony Marras' made it four Free For All wins in a row when he led all of the way in the top grade. He ran a personal best time of 22.78 in scoring by 2 1/4 lengths. He seems to love this grass circuit where he has now won nine races from fourteen starts.

Bralyn Sal looks like she has overcome any fears after a nasty fall here a few runs ago, with an outstanding run in the Charcoal Inn stake. Quickly away from box six, she overcame an early bump to get straight over to the fence, and as they went past the point of her fall she raced right away from her rivals. Looking very strong in the run home, she won by six lengths in a nippy 27.25 for .

The trained Zip Zip Marina also speared out from box six to lead all of the way in the stake. She got right on the bunny to win by 1 1/2 lengths in 27.50. She is another who is building up a good record at Casino, with four wins and three placings from eleven goes.

Kooringa Squirt finally had things go her way when she broke through in the Westlawn Finance maiden. She has had a myriad of minor placings for owner trainer Mitch Northfield, but got home this time by a length in 23.60. The other maiden was won by Jake Rose Hi who won by 3 1/2 lengths in 23.69 for Trevor Thompson.

Matthew Reid's backed up from a good win at the previous Tuesday to win the Royal Hotel stake by 2 1/2 lengths in 22.99, whilst Jaydo's Neglect was an all of the way winner for in 23.15. It was her first run back after an injury enforced spell.

Vic Sherwell took home two winners after littermates Giddy Up George and Flying Fatty both scored. George won the stake in 22.96, and Fatty took out the Mc Donald's Pharmay maiden running a fast 27.67.

Regular visitor won the remaining race, the distance stake, with Arapaho Demon who ran 35.68.

Casino now is in recess for track repairs and racing resumes on January 22nd. Merry Christmas to all from the Beef Capital.
