FABULOUS Bill upstaged boom pup Thirty Talks to score a gutsy win in the 2016 Listed Flying Amy Classic on Thursday night at Albion Park.
Spearing out of box five, the Bill Elson-trained chaser went straight to the early lead in the charge to the line on the first occasion.
Meanwhile, race favourite Thirty Talks (box six) recovered from a poor beginning to push his way up into fourth spot around the first turn, before being checked heavily by roughie Wings Of Perlita (box seven) and relegated to tail of the field.
Heading off the back and Fabulous Bill was high-balling out in front, the only danger being Split Image (box eight) which maintained her spot right on the leader’s heels into the home straight.
Half way down the straight it became obvious that Split Image could do no more, with Fabulous Bill kicking strongly to score by one and a half lengths in a slick 29.91.
Lucky Sally ran on well to finish third for trainer Jeffery Jones, with Issy Cool back in fourth spot.
Fabulous Bill, a son of Fabregas and super producer Regal Silver, has now won his last four starts and 15 from 37 overall, with Thursday’s winner’s cheque taking his career earnings to over $105,000.
