Future Albion Park Meetings Transferred

QGRAFurther to the shock announcement of the cancellation of tonight's meeting, QGRA General Manager, Mr ; has announced interim measures to accomodate the temporary cessation of racing at Albion Park.

As a result of the temporary of the a number of meetings have been rescheduled to ensure the continuance of greyhound racing in Sth East Queensland.

The changes are as follows:

  • 27 June – Transferred to GRC (Class 3)
  • Monday 30 June – Transferred to Ipswich GRC (Class 2)
  • Thursday 3 July – Transferred to GRC (Class 1)
  • Friday 4 July – Transferred to Ipswich GRC (Class 3)

Mr Beavis has said that “as race fields for the meetings on Friday 27 June and Monday 30 June have already been drawn, some race distances will need to be amended. Races which were to be conducted over 395m will now be 431m and races over 600m will be conducted over 630m. Race fields will be amended to reflect these changes.”

In recognising that these changes may not suit all trainers, Mr Beavis has announced that “trainers will be permitted to scratch without penalty from these meetings due to being transferred to Ipswich GRC.”

Australian Racing Greyhound.com expect there will be further announcements in the days ahead as a longer term solution is found that can accomodate Queensland metropolitan greyhound racing for the weeks and months ahead and one that factors in the imminent closure of the Gold Coast track.
