Rockhampton greyhounds abandoned due to adverse weather

The Rockhampton greyhound race meeting scheduled for this evening has been abandoned by QRIC Stewards.

Extreme weather conditions including high winds and extreme temperatures have caused power outages in the region and is affecting the power infrastructure at the greyhound track.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have issued an emergency warning this afternoon including evacuation orders for Stanwell, Kabra and Gracemere southwest of Rockhampton.

QRIC have determined that “for the safety of all animals and participants, the seven races scheduled for this evening will not go ahead.”
