Racing Queensland To Hold Public Information Sessions Over Deagon Racing Proposal

Limited (RQL) today announced a series of public information sessions to be held at its headquarters on , November 25.

Chief executive officer Malcolm Tuttle said the information sessions would be designed to step interested parties through RQL's plans for redevelopment of its Deagon base which were lodged with Brisbane City Council on October 3, 2011.

“We anticipate the public comment period which occurs as part of the lodgement process will run from early December to February 2012 giving the local community and industry participants plenty of time to form their views on the plan that has been submitted for consideration,” Mr Tuttle said.

“These public information sessions are being held in addition to the requirements of the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 and will provide local residents, businesses and interested parties with the opportunity to hear the facts directly from the horse's mouth so to speak.”

Mr Tuttle said consultants involved in the project with key expertise in environment impact assessment, traffic movement, noise and lighting would be on hand to share information.

“We intend to run several 45-minute sessions which will begin with a presentation from the project team and then allow plenty of time for questions,” he said.

“The sessions will cover detail about the scope of works including the harness and greyhound tracks, thoroughbred training track, raceday kennels and tie up stalls, raised two-way public facilities, grassed marquee area, car and float parking.

“We believe what we are proposing will be of enormous benefit to the local community and the Deagon facility plays a pivotal part in the overall Industry Infrastructure Plan which aims to revitalise Queensland's racing assets.”

Individuals can register to attend one of the sessions being held on November 25 at RQL's headquarters, located at Lot 2 Racecourse Road, Deagon.

Session times can be booked by contacting Dart on (07) 3869 9405 or for more information visit www.racingqueensland.com.au.
