Rematch At The Gardens This Afternoon
With the loss of last week's meeting, we missed out on an exciting clash in the Free For All. Today those main combatants have returned to The Gardens for a rematch, along with a placegetter in the recent Richmond Oaks Series.
Race six, The Multicam Systems Stake over 515 metres, brings together a highly talented group of open class chasers, with every runner winning in sub 30 seconds at The Gardens. However, the three main chances look to be; local star Lochinvar Marlow out of the coveted rails ally, the very speedy Bit Stressed carrying the blue rug, and Monamour, which set the track alight the last time she raced at The Gardens with a 29.60 performance, exiting box seven.
Lochinvar Marlow, who has a fastest time of 29.43 around the 515 metre Gardens circuit, should start a pronounced favourite from the inside draw, but Bit Stressed who is a very fast beginner may cause a few early problems for the son of Bombastic Shiraz.
Bit Stressed led the Richmond Oaks last start, before battling on well for third behind the very strong, Little Sparkle in near record time. Monamour, the other main hope, should get a good run across the field despite the wide draw, which sets up the event as a very exciting race, with a chance of the three favourites going head and head in a drive to the first turn with no room for error.
Another feature on today's 10 event card is race nine, the Multicam Systems Maiden Final, from heats conducted last Saturday night. The fastest qualifier is the beautifully bred Wave To Elle, in a slick 29.97.
Wave To Elle's mother, Wave To Emma is a from Steve Kavanagh's outstanding ‘Rumble' breeding line and a half sister to Group One winner and now champion sire, Collision. Wave To Emma was bred by AFL legend Tony Lockett, before being sold to NCA Director Clayton Wright.
Wright bred Wave To Elle, who won first up for new trainer and fellow NCA Director Ron Bell in her heat on Saturday night. Wright has a two pronged attack in the final with ‘Elle's' litter sister, Wave To Betty, for trainer Tom Halley in box six.
