Ringwood Bale Has The Wood On Them At Ballarat
Trained at Anakie by Gary Mannion, Ringwood Bale ran an eye catching second in last week’s heat to qualify for the final to be run over 550 metres.
“He’s a strong dog who tries his heart out in all his races.” Mannion said.
“I wish I had more of his type in the kennel”
Ringwood Bale only started moderately from Box 7 last week, and was posted three wide for most of the trip.
He spotted the eventual winner Slipaway George four lengths at the top of the straight, only to be beaten a half length on the post.
One of Ringwood Bale’s traits throughout his racing career to date has been his tardiness from the boxes, which has cost him more career victories.
The son of Bond will exit Box 3 in the final, and has been installed as a $7.50 chance in pre post markets.
“I would have preferred for him to draw wider so that he doesn’t get into any trouble in the early stages of the race.”
“If he can avoid any trouble and have luck in running, he finishes off his races and will be a good each way chance in the race.”
The final has some well credentialed runners engaged, and is sure to be a hotly contested affair.
The other main chances in the race appear to be Eastwood and Slipaway George.
Eastwood from the Geoff Mitchell kennel is the favorite for the race following his impressive all the way victory in the fastest heat winning time.
Eastwood has now won four of his ten race starts, and has a bright racing future ahead of him.
The youngest runner in the race will jump from outside Ringwood Bale in Box 4.
Slipaway George for Sulky trainer Elsie King also led all of the way last week from Box 1, but will exit Box 7 in the final.
Slipaway George has been racing consistently and is sure to give the opposition something to chase if he can lead in the race.
