Famiglietti Amphetamine Positive Inquiry Leads To Property Inspection & Adjournment

On 10th October 2012 opened an inquiry into the greyhound Dyna Brenda after it had shown the presence of Amphetamine from the urine sample taken at the Southern Greyhound race meeting held at on Sunday 8th July.

Stewards took evidence from Mr. Famiglietti (Trainer) and Mr. David Batty (Laboratory Director Racing Analytical Services Limited).

During the Mr. Famiglietti requested and was granted an adjournment.

The resumption of this inquiry took place on Thursday 1st November 2012 at 10.00am at which time further evidence was taken from Mr. Flamiglietti (Trainer).

During the inquiry Stewards informed Mr. Famiglietti that they would be adjourning the inquiry and attending his property immediately with him to inspect and take samples for further testing.

As a result samples were sent to Racing Analytical Services Limited and tested.

Stewards continued the inquiry on Wednesday 5 December 2012 and took further evidence, as a result Mr. Famiglietti was charged with a breach of the Of Greyhound Racing R83 which reads:

R83 Racing greyhound to be free of
(2) The owner, trainer or person in charge of a greyhound-
(a) nominated to compete in an Event;
(b) presented for a satisfactory, weight or whelping trial or such other trial as provided for pursuant to these Rules; or
(c) presented for any test or examination for the purpose of a period of incapacitation or prohibition being varied or revoked
shall present the greyhound free of any prohibited substance.
(3) The owner, trainer or person in charge of a greyhound presented contrary to sub-rule (2) shall be guilty of an offence.
(4) A greyhound presented for an Event contrary to sub-rules (1) or (2) shall be disqualified from the Event or any benefit derived from a trial or test.

Mr. Famiglietti pleaded not guilty to the charge and requested an adjournment to seek legal advice.

The inquiry has been adjourned until 9.45am on Wednesday 12 December 2012.
