Four Month Disqualification For Angle Park Greyhounds Altercation

Greyhound Racing South Australia on the 23rd February 2011 completed an into an altercation at on 20th January 2011 prior to the running of race 12, between licensed trainers Mr. M. Payne, Mr. P.Jovanovic and Mr. R.Barkla.

Stewards after taking into consideration evidence from the above three trainers, plus Stewards' Mr.J.Carey, Mr.S.Volbrect, Kennel House Attendants Mr.K.Golley and Miss L.Lakatos Owner Attendant Mr.A.Fry, Trainer Mr.D.Decrea, and Owner Attendant Mr.R.Goodie, formed the opinion there was sufficient evidence to lay 3 charges against Mr.M Payne and 1 charge against Mr.R.Barkla under Greyhound Racing 86(o) which reads:

OFFENCES, INQUIRIES and PENALTIES -R86 Offences
(o) has, in relation to a greyhound or greyhound racing, done a thing, or omitted to do a thing, which, in the opinion of the Stewards or the Controlling Body, as the case may be, is negligent,dishonest, corrupt, fraudulent or improper, or constitutes ;

Mr. Payne pleaded guilty to one charge laid and was fined the sum of $200.

Mr. Payne pleaded not guilty to the second charge laid and after being found guilty of the offence was disqualified for a period of 4 months, two months of that penalty was suspended on the condition Mr. Payne did not breach a similar rule within a 12 month period.

Mr. Payne pleaded not guilty to the third charge laid, and after being found guilty of the offence was disqualified for a period of 1 month.

Stewards ruled that both penalties be served concurrently

Mr.Barkla pleaded guilty, to one charge laid against him and was fined the sum of $100.

No action was taken against Mr.P.Jovanovic
