SA National Distance Heats At Angle Park Thursday Night

The South Australian leg of the heats take place on Thursday night at . Two heats will be conducted and the first four from each heat will go through to the South Australian final next Thursday night.

Here's a look at the main chances in each heat;

Heat One – Race 2 at 7:05pm

The stand-out in the first heat of the SA Distance Heats is the three and a half year old Token McLaren (4). The and (Stately Bird – Jay Lo McLaren) dog has only been unplaced once over the 731 metre distance at Angle Park. In total he has recorded eight wins over the trip and a best of 42.89.

The main danger to his winning chances is the dog boxed on his outside, Defib Daryl (5). The Talk's Cheap and Shakira Orchard (Tommy Quick – Lynishia Star) dog is a last start winner in 43.77 and has won three times over the staying distance. His best is 43.26. He has had no luck from the squeeze box in his career as he still for a win after three attempts.

Gengis Kahn (8) is more noted for his efforts over the sprint trip. This is just his second attempt at staying. He was unplaced in his only attempt back in May and he may just find this a little too tough.

Heat Two – Race 3 at 7:25pm

In the second heat, there will be some healthy competition between Long Gully Surf (1), (3) and Zara McLaren (4).

Long Gully Surf hasn't won since June and has only one win from seven attempts out of box one. However, he enjoys the staying distance at Angle Park, winning seven from 17 and placing on six other occasions. His best is 43.26.

Psychotic Gold is in great form, winning four of her last five. The Vapour Whirl and Molly's Gold ( – Resigned) bitch has five wins from nine starts over the 731 metres and she has been placed three other times. Her best is 43.19 and she looks the one to beat.

The other greyhound in form is Zara McLaren. The sister to Token McLaren has been a consistent place-getter recently and has five wins from 33 attempts over the staying distance. Her last win was in May and she has a best of 43.25. She is and each-way chance.

The interesting runner is Victa Victoria (7). The and Teelah ( – Corrumbene Lass) bitch is new to the staying trip and has one win and one placing from two starts. Her best is 43.84. She looks the natural improver.
