Weblec Belle Leads Home A Britton First Four In Brian Johnstone

He trained the winner of every heat and landed the quinella in both semi-finals. Yet as if that was not enough, Anakie trainer also prepared the first four runners across the line in the Three final at in Thursday night.

It was Weblec Belle, the outsider of his four charges, who took out the race by half a length from Oakvale Destiny in 29.71.

Britton had told ARG through the week that he thought the daughter of and Snow Excuse ( – Excuse Me) has plenty of strength and would likely get further in the future. That was evident when she managed to stave off the very strong multiple Group winner Oakvale Destiny to claim the $25,000 first prize.

Weblec Belle left box six in sixth place before mustering pace and whipping around the outside of jamming leaders to pilot the field into the back straight.

With Britton's trio of Oakvale Destiny (3), Oakvale Flyer (7) and Texas Titan (4) the margin abbreviators, the result was far from a fait accompli.

Despite Oakvale Destiny looming large, the 27kg fawn bitch who only turned two this week, found plenty to hang on and win.

Oakvale Destiny finished second, Texas Titan was third and Oakvale Flyer rounded out Britton's fabulous four.

Of the beaten brigade, it is hard to make excuses for any of the other runners other than a gap in class.

The win was Weblec Belle's eighth from just 15 career starts and takes her career earnings beyond $40,000.
