Shooter and Fisher Borsak says Pearson is clutching at straws

, Fishers and Farmers Party MLC has slammed the 's Mark Pearson for his last ditch attempt to bring down the greyhound racing industry.

On Thursday, Pearson revealed to Parliament he had lodged a written complaint to NSW Police, about criminal activity in the greyhound industry. He claims animal cruelty, illegal drugs, race-fixing and money laundering within the industry are rife.

Pearson's allegations are based on Greyhound () documents, delivered to the government under a Legislative Council Order for Papers.

Amongst these papers are ‘privileged' and ‘non-privileged' documents, many to the general public.

Pearson is now asking for the government to refrain from introducing a bill to repeal the Greyhound Racing Prohibition Act 2016, pending the outcome of a police investigation into his complaint.

Borsak, while a firm opponent of animal cruelty, believes the complaint and subsequent notice of motion is just a desperate move to further tarnish the greyhound racing industry.

“I think he is clutching at straws,” Borsak told Australian Racing Greyhound.

“This is the act of a desperate man whose culture beliefs are on the fringe of human beliefs.

“What he is pushing for all the time in Parliament is for the Police to be the force to enforce any issue relating to animals.

“At the end of the day he is hurting very much because his crazy program for the banning of greyhound racing has failed because the majority have spoken.

“Very few people with common sense actually believe what he believes… it's just rubbish.”

Borsak said anything in the secret documents would have already been dealt with by authorities if they had any substance.

“I don't believe he has got anything and if he does then let the law take its course, but I think if he did have something of substance then action would have been taken a long time ago,” he said.

“I think it is an act to gain some sort of sympathy, some sort of fringe publicity for a failed agenda which will never succeed in NSW let alone Australia.”

With the animal rights crowds making a racket in recent times, Borsak alluded it is territory to be pandering to these fringe groups. Pearson, the face of the Animal Justice Party, won the last seat in the NSW Legislative Assembly at the 2015 State election and went through a honey mood period, before the reversal the .

“He has been shown reality in his very first year and a half in the Upper House – he thought he was going to have a major win (banning greyhound racing) – but the people of NSW have spoken,” he said.

“It's not just greyhound racing people, it's everybody. No one wants to see law-abiding citizens criminalised, but that's exactly what he wants to do.

“This is a man that wants to have the police knock on your door and arrest you for not feeding your cat or for walking your dog without a leash, he is mad.

“That won't happen. The police don't have any role in investigating animal related cruelty, that's the role of the and the League.

“I don't see that he has got anything that he could possible add to the argument.

“An animal rights theology is a very dangerous set of ideas because it puts the value of animals and their life above those of humans and their rights.

“We shouldn't take too much notice of him.”

Clutching at straws I’d say clutching something cylindrical but unlikely to be a straw- these fanatics just do not stop do they?

The animal liberation person is selective about reality. He showed a reality moment by not standing in the Orange Bi-Election knowing he would probably score under 1% or he might have taken votes off the Greens who were the only anti’s in the race and actually suffered a 1.1% loss on the previous vote. The Greens deserve some credit for facing the electorate to protest and not taking the cowards approach behind the scenes. At 5pm the Shooter’s went to the front again in the election result. The election has not be called yet and writs are due to be… Read more »

This Pearson is a self confessed buggerer. I always believed buggery was illegal???  I could be wrong , if not what’s he doing in our parliament?

Maybe charges have to be laid and a conviction recorded.

BobWhitelaw I think that the electoral office might be a bit rusty, they probably have not had to seriously look at preferences since 1947. Numbers are moving up and down on the same votes. Either way it is a great result congratulations to all that attended, you certainly made a difference.

John Tracey BobWhitelaw  Yes I agree John even if they finally lose it is a mighty effort to come that close since 1947 and it certainly sends a message any significant swing would. It was good the Fishers, Shooters and Farmers stood a candidate I could not see hard core nationals suddenly switching to labor not matter how pissed off they were but they were an ideal choose – send a message whilst not appearing to be a class traitor.

Deborah555 John Tracey BobWhitelaw He is in the upper house (Legislative Council) as a single party member so geographical areas are not involved. Without going through the whole previous election his support would be in the metropolitan areas. I think that he got the donkey vote from being number one on a large ballot paper. The number one position seems to get up regularly so he may have been a “lottery” winner.

I totally agree Spyman, let’s commence with the analogy that (what i believe) Mike Baird is a sheep in wolfs clothing. He is certainly not a true Liberal but an animal activist in disguise.

The Liberal Party heavies must realize this and they must remove him if they want to survive.

It will be interesting to see which way Barilaro jumps on this. On the one hand it will benefit the National Party. On the other hand all three would be a threat to his leadership!!

We’ll see if the man has any b–lls.

spyman Mistake in my view for the Nats to sack their leader, apart from the few that crossed the floor the others were complicit in having the greyhounds closed. I realise this is a hard comment. Both members who have been previously in the police force and have become racing minister’s have both been a disaster for the greyhounds but both have had credentials as the Minister for Arts. One was an accomplished musician in his own right and the other understood aboriginal languages amongst other things. The other Ministers for Racing in the reforms were all OK with the… Read more »

The police have enough to do without worrying about animal issues, years ago the police were allowed to go onto properties and shoot animals that were aggressive or injured that has all changed and if the RSPCA were doing their job properly then there would be no issues ,if drugs were detected the controlling bodies in each state would have dealt with positive swabs ,an idiot who puts animals above humans ,
