South Australia’s Trengrove family comes out on top at Angle Park

SOUTH Australia's “Trengove” family had a great night out on Thursday night with four winners saluting at .

Jack and Clint Trengove shared the honours as Frankie Boy headlined the night winning well over 731m after missing the start.

Frankie Boy took the win just five days and 1000 kilometers after competing in the TAB Super Stayers final at last week.

The brindle chaser proved that a short back up and travel was no issue with the up and coming star equalling the after hitting the line hard over the concluding stages.

Jack got the spoils in races two and three before Clint took the honours in races six and nine.

Jack almost made it a treble when 20-1 Helmet Giblet just missed in the last.

Getting multiple winners on the program is nothing new for the well traveled family trainers and Jack just admitted that he thought it was a privilege to train the greyhound amongst loved ones.

“I just love getting up in the morning and seeing that the dogs are happy,” Jack said.

“The dogs are always happy to see you and I enjoy the thrill of winning a race.”

When speaking about Frankie Boy, he admitted that it was satisfying that owners were trusting the family with quality greyhounds.

“It is all a team effort,” he said.

“It is good that we are starting to get some good dogs.”

After moving from to Two Wells full time training sits well with Jack and cousin Harry and it's a busy workload that is shared.

Jack himself has a busy four days ahead with 12 greyhounds hitting the circuits at , Mount Gambier and .

Not to be outdone, Lewiston based Clint has 10 runners at Mount Gambier on Sunday.

Stayers, Born a Runner and New Years Tears look to be major players in the rare 732m Mount Gambier race, while It's Smudge has its first try over 512m after 22 wins from 45 starts over shorter distances.

And for the punters, Jack suggests it might be worth following powerful type, “Hot Rocks” who returns to Gawler in race 11 on Sunday.

“He is a very strong dog and he is probably our best chance over the next few days.”
