Stars Ready To Strike It Rich In Gosford Gold Mine Series

The place to be this Tuesday night will be trackside at Gosford for the annual Gold Mine Series worth an eye-catching $10,000 to the winner. Last year's event was won by current 515m track record holder Lochinvar Curl, with Nat's The One taking out the esteemed series back in 2011.

Some of racing's most gifted sprinters will make the trip to the picturesque Central Coast, with six outstanding heats of the 5th grade feature event to be conducted, with the all-important final to be held next Tuesday night.

Gosford Gold Mine Heat One

Boom youngster Mike Marlow for local trainer Lorraine Atchison has come up with the coveted red rug after a solid runner up performance behind Crazy Lass last week in a fast 29.86. After four wins and three minor placings from just seven starts, a 29.78 performance trial back in March, should see the x pup put in another resilient performance.

In form trainer Frank Hurst will be hoping his promising charge Rashad can keep his perfect box eight record intact, after some outstanding performances of late at Richmond where he clocked a sizzling 30.44 personal best over the 535m journey.

Christina Oldfield's Osteria Mozza returned to the winners list last week at Wentworth Park saluting in a flying time of 29.86 and leading all the way from box three. Despite the somewhat awkward box four draw, his early speed along with a 29.89 personal best at the track will see him in the finish.

Lisdale trainer Kim Hyde took the greyhound racing world by storm with , who is now making his mark at stud having produced Hyde's latest prodigy, Kihael Madam. A last start winner at Richmond, the youngster now has five wins under her belt from just seven starts and has come up with a favourable box two.

Hunter Valley trainer Emanuel Borg's kennel is flying at present with Lady Anabella a very impressive last start winner at Unibet Gardens in a flying 29.75 from the outside draw, which she will have to tackle again this week.

Having been unplaced in just one of his eleven starts, Pablo Cruz should give his Badgery's Creek mentor Benjamin McCauley a great showing from an inside draw. Coming off a strong performance at last Thursday night, the son of finally cracked his second career win after running six consecutive second's, clocking a smart 30.16 over the 520m.

Frank Hurst again carries a strong hope in this heat with the regally bred Paua And Jewels. Shooting for her third consecutive win after two strong wins at Richmond (30.95) and Wentworth Park (30.22), the daughter of Where's Pedro and Paua To Explode should get the fly from the inside draw.

Mark Gatt's second hope Lightning Impact, has been runner up at his past three outings, after two dominate wins at Maitland where he clocked a smart 25.33 personal best. His run home strength will certainly be a formidable force at the finish.

Crazy Lass caused a huge upset last week when the trained chaser defeated heavy favourite Mike Marlow in a blistering time of 29.86 from box one. Coming up with the checks this week, the daughter of Bush Legend's blistering early speed could potentially make her a dark horse in this series.

Despite drawing box six for the third week running, Proven Wag is in white hot form after two successive wins Richmond and Unitbet Gardens, where the daughter of clocked a fast 22.66 (400m) and 29.66 (515m). Trainer Simon Gafa will be hoping she can nail the start once again to secure a finals berth.

Gliding Gem trained on the Central Coast by Mark Moroney, comes into the series with superb 500 metre form at Unibet Gardens that includes two wins and two minor placings with a personal best of 30.02. Displaying perfection at box rise, the inside draw will prove ideal for the 22kg lightweight.

Tiggerlong Who has a scorching personal best of 29.66 at Gosford although it was recorded twelve months ago; the Margaret Keys prepared chaser has regained some decent form of late with an impressive 30.03 victory at Dapto last month. Any repeat of his best effort at the track would certainly see him attract attention heading into next week's final.

Tourmalet has suffered just one defeat at his past six outings, with the Mark Long trained up and comer having clocked a sensational 29.61 at Wentworth Park last month. Despite being an average beginner, a 30.18 impressive performance from the middle box at Gosford during April, will assure his popular amongst punters.

Benjamin McCauley has another strong hope in the final heat with , who has been a model of consistency around the two turn circuits, recording some flying personal bests including; 29.82 (Dapto 520m) and 29.98 (Wentworth Park 520m). Velvet Fog returns to Gosford after just one start where she put in a brave performance behind the winner in clocking 29.97. Having tidied up her box manners as of late, a box three draw should be preferential.

Benchmark returned to his best at Richmond two weeks ago clocking a fast 30.73 after a rough patch of form. The trained chaser will make his anticipated debut at Gosford from box seven, with his risky box manners no doubt a concern for his connections with luck to play a vital role in the early proceedings.

Heat one will kick off at 7.39pm (NSW) with a highly anticipated night of racing to be concluded next week in the $10,000 to the winner final.
