Steven Rabl Receives Suspended Fine And Has Registration Cancelled
Offences :
(a) Mr. Steven Rabl as a registered trainer, disposed of four greyhound pups, by the way of drowning, on or around Tuesday, 11 February 2014, which in the opinion of Stewards was improper and constituted misconduct.
(b) Mr. Steven Rabl being a registered trainer, did fail to exercise reasonable care to prevent two greyhound pups that were in your care and custody from being subjected to unnecessary pain and suffering, which in the opinion of Stewards was improper, or constitutes misconduct.
REPORT:
Following an incident at Murtoa on or around Tuesday, 11 February 2014, the Stewards of Greyhound Racing Victoria conducted an investigation.
During the investigation, Stewards heard evidence from registered trainer Mr. Steven Rabl and Mr. Greg Wilson (Yarriambiack Shire Council).
After considering the evidence, Stewards charged Mr. Rabl with a breach of Greyhounds Australasia Rules 86 (o) which provides that a person shall be guilty of an offence if the person has in relation to a greyhound or greyhound racing, done a thing, or omitted to do a thing, which in the opinion of the Stewards or the Controlling Body, as the case may be, is negligent, dishonest, corrupt, fraudulent or improper, or constitutes misconduct.
Under Rule 47.1 of the Greyhound Racing Victoria Local Rules this constituted a Serious Offence. As a result, on Tuesday, 6 May 2014 this matter was heard before the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board in the first instance under Greyhound Local Racing Rule 47.3 and Sections 83C(b) and 83M(1) of the Racing Act.
Mr. Steven Rabl represented himself.
Mr. Glenn Fish (GRV Chief Steward) represented the Stewards Panel.
Mr. Steven Rabl pleaded guilty to the charge.
After hearing all the evidence tendered and having regard to GAR86 (o), the RADB determined that Mr. Rabl was guilty as charged and that: (a) Mr. Rabls registration is cancelled as of 6 May 2014 and; (b) Mr. Rabl was fined $1,000 which was wholly suspended for 12 months pending no similar breaches of the Rules of Greyhound Racing during this period.

Where I live in the US, we have animal cruelty task forces that rescue, rehabilitate and adopt the ones saved. And the ones not saved, perpetrators are, eventually found, fined and go to jail.

They abuse and exploit these amazing animals until they can no longer win beer money for them, then these dogs are tortured and killed in their hundreds and thousands. This should be banned and the perpetrators brought to justice. Please please please sign the current queensland government e-petition to stop the development of the Logan greyhound track.
