Super Start To New Financial Year Tipped At The Gardens
The appearance of Group Two placegetter, Super Laurie in race five, The Forsythe Stake (515 metres) is the highlight of today’s meeting at The Gardens, the last Thursday early evening meeting before Maitland resume racing after their track upgrade.
Three starts ago Super Laurie was third behind Tuiaki in the Group Two Peter Mosman at Wentworth Park and last Saturday night he just missed out on qualifying for the Group Two Bob Payne Winter Stakes at the same venue, when he was placed third in his heat, with only the first two across the line progressing to the $25,000 to-the-winner final.
Prepared by popular conditioner, John Miles at Kilcare on the Central Coast, Super Laurie has won 13 races and been placed 14 times from his 37 start career and is somewhat of a Gardens specialist, winning six races at the Newcastle venue, although only one of those victories was over today’s 515 metres.
However, the son of Super Burst and Curi Lee won’t have it all his own was in the opening leg of the Quaddie, with all six of his rivals being able to break the 30 second barrier around The Gardens sprint circuit.
The form analyst tips Super Laurie to start the financial year off well for punters, making him the best bet of the program, stating:
“SUPER LAURIE (4) drops in class on his recent Wentworth Park outing, good beginner with blistering early speed, excels this venue, clearly the one to beat”.
Miles has a great chance of training a winning double at today’s meeting, as he will also line up Noisy Tiger in race 10, the No Racing Next Week Stake over 413 metres.
Noisy Tiger brilliantly broke his maiden status at his fourth start last week with a sizzling 23.87 performance, which saw the son of Surf Lorian and Tommie’s Placard score by a massive 14 ½ lengths.
Despite the rise in class, Noisy Tiger is the only runner in the field to break 24 seconds for The Gardens short course and he should be sent out as the punters elect in the final event of the program.
‘Edens’ restaurant will be open, with great food at reasonable prices, right on top of the action. Bookings can be made on (02) 49515842.
You can get bet live on tonight’s bumper meeting at The Gardens at Sportsbet or Iasbet with the first race of the early evening program scheduled to kick off at 3.51pm AEST.
