Suspended Fine For Procaine Positive Swab Greyhound Trainer
Stewards today finalised an inquiry in to a positive swab to Procaine by the greyhound Raymond Love after its second place finish at a Ballrat Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club metting in November 2008.
It is the second positive swab to Procaine in less than a month in Victorian Greyhound Racing after Wendy Connell received a fine for a similar offence in December 2008.
GRV Stewards on 16th January 2009 conducted an Inquiry into the circumstances pertaining to the pre-race urine sample taken from the greyhound ‘Raymond Love” at the Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club meeting held on 5 November, 2008 indicating the presence of the drug Procaine.
Stewards heard evidence from licensed Trainer – Mr. Andrew Nguyen, Dr. J. Vine (RASL), and Dr. Alistair Smith (Veterinary Surgeon).
Mr. Andrew Nguyen pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Stewards found Mr. Andrew Nguyen guilty as charged and fined him the sum of $500, wholly suspended for two (2) years subject to no further breach of this Rule.
Stewards also disqualified ‘Raymond Love” from Event 10 at the Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club meeting on 5th November 2008 .
