Swansea Hotel Series Final At The Gardens Today
Today’s feature event at The Gardens is race six, the final of the rich Swansea Hotel Series worth $4,000 to the winner, for greyhounds the qualified in heats last Friday afternoon.
The pre-post favourite is Garbanzo, for top training partnership Jill and Warren Harper, winner of four of his eight starts around The Gardens 515 metre journey and will jump from the coveted rails ally.
Garbanzo hails from one of the strongest maternal families in greyhound racing. His mother, Inspirationlee is a 2003 whelping by Hall Of Fame chaser, Brett Lee and champion broodbitch Thai Magic making her a litter sister to top sire and freak race dog Bond as well as part of a family that has a seemly endless array of black type winners throughout the family.
Garbanzo’s father needs little introduction, Australian Greyhound Racing Association’s Sire of the Year, Bombastic Shiraz, still the only greyhound to win the Melbourne triple crown of the Sandown Shootout, Topgun and Melbourne Cup in 2003.
The form analyst is tipping a Garbanzo victory, writing:
But it is will certainly be no walk over for Garbanzo, with Glitzy Rascal (2), Flash Selection (5), Large Shot (6) and Cypress Miss (7) all previously running sub-29.90 at the track and distance, making the race on paper look an even affair. Large Shot was the fastest Qualifier last week, running a career best time of 29.82, while Garbanzo ran a just over a length slower in 29.90.
‘Edens’ restaurant will be open for on course patrons, with great food at reasonable prices and a fabulous view of the track, right on top of the action. Bookings can be made on (02) 49515842.
You can bet live on tonight’s bumper meeting at The Gardens at Sportsbet or Iasbet with the first race of the early evening program scheduled to kick off at 3.51pm AEST
