Damek To Do Tasmania Proud

Tassie champion Damek is poised to run the race of his life when he contests Heat 5 of the $75,000 Group 1 Wrest Point Casino Hobart Thousand on Thursday night.

The son of will be shooting for twelve wins in succession at the venue and has drawn handily in the check box, meaning that he may very well occupy the premier position in running throughout.

“We are very happy with Damek’s box draw and are hoping that he can begin well and obtain a trouble free run,” trainer explained on Monday.

“He is very well in himself and primed to run a great race. I hope that he can do proud.”

Thomas rates the Graeme Bate prepared and the Leigh Woods prepared Thirteen Black as the main dangers to Damek, which is the current Tattersalls Park track record holder for the 461 metre trip.

“I believe that Dyna Forte is a very smart chaser and Thirteen Black had exceptional form prior to being injured,” she explained.

Meanwhile Damek’s litter-brother Decembrist has returned to Tasmania to contest the Hobart Thousand series from the kennel of Copping part-owner Peter Phillips.

A last start winner, Decembrist will have to contend with the likes of the very good Shereen Bale and 2009 Hobart Thousand winner Prankster, but is capable of footing it with the best on his night.

Another Tasmanian chaser hoping to extend a winning sequence will be the smart bitch , the winner of five in succession from the Anthony Bullock complex.

Owned by prolific breeder Allan Clark of Burnie and a recent Melbourne winner, the bitch has drawn the blue box in Heat 6 of the event and will be taking on the standouts Stefan Bale and Dee Winter.

Tea Tree trainer Gary Greig is another local who will be hoping that his recent run of good fortune continues when his very smart chaser Octane Assassin contests Heat 8.

The son of is the likely favourite for what is probably the weaker of the heats and has also drawn the blue box.

At his most recent run Octane Assassin took out the Barry Heawood Hobart Thousand Prelude in brilliant fashion and in doing so made it three wins in succession.

Anthony Bullock will also be represented by an Allan Clark owned chaser in Heat 1 of the rich series, when the well performed Luke’s A Missile clashes with the exceptional interstate duo Perfect Fancy, from the Darren McDonald kennel and Daintree Palace, which is prepared by Lauren Gorman.

The son of Path To Power will have to be at his very best to trouble the interstate invaders, which along with the prepared Octane Show, are being touted in many circles as Damek’s main dangers.

The Hobart Thousand invariably provides a wonderful spectacle for all those interested in the sport of greyhound racing and this year will almost certainly prove to be no exception.
