It’s Official- He’s Retired

Rewind will not race again and will embark on a stud career at owner-trainer Maurie Strickland's Bracknell property.

One of the best greyhounds to have graced the arena in Tasmania and certainly the most popular, he concluded his racing career with the magnificent record of 100 outings, 61 victories and 26 placings, while accumulating a purse of $232,540.

He was successful in three states and ran second in consecutive Thousands in 2011 and 2012.

Strickland is known to have been considering retiring the veteran chaser for several months, but shelved the idea each time because he considered he had not lost his zest for racing.

Rewind is by Collide from the owned bitch Ricky's Angel and is a litter mate to the winners Clyde's Angel, Miss Roman Nose, Penny's Angel, Strapper's Angel and Strapper's Boy.

“Every trainer is hoping for the dog that can change your life and I was lucky enough to have this one come into mine,” the veteran owner-trainer explained this week.

“He was a smart chaser. He used his to get through a field and I'm hoping he can pass that onto his progeny,”he added.
