Lashing Jill Spoils The Party

Smart bitch Lashing Jill ( – Illusion) provided one of the major upsets of the season by defeating the champion bitch Bell Haven (Head Bound – It’s A She) in the State Distance Championship Final (720 metres) conducted at Monday night’s LGRC meeting at the Tote Racing Centre.

Despite the fact that a disappointing field of only four contested the event, Lashing Jill was impressive in defeating her more fancied rival, who was sent out a raging $1.10 favourite on the strength of her outstanding recent form.

Lashing Jill’s victory provided Mangalore trainer Allan Anderson with his first final victory of any category and the Neil Sargison owned bitch will now progress to The Meadows without another run.

“I will try and arrange a trial for her at The Meadows this Saturday night. That way she will be given every chance of winning the following week,” an elated Anderson explained on Tuesday.

“Everything is up in the air at the moment, but hopefully we can sort out her immediate plans in the next forty-eight hours.”

The Ted Medhurst prepared Bell Haven appeared likely to run past Lashing Jill in the concluding stages of Monday night’s race, however that bitch fought back strongly to prevail by almost two lengths in the time of 43.01.

Anderson predicted several months ago that the bitch was potentially the best greyhound he had the pleasure of training and his opinion is being vindicated.

“In short distance races she was invariably slow early and then running into trouble, but over the longer trips she is beginning in the first two or three and then running on strongly,” he explained.

Meanwhile another smart bitch, the David Crosswell owned and prepared She’s All Class ( – It’s A She) will represent Tasmania at The Meadows in the .

The bitch recorded a time of 29.77, the fastest of the night, in winning the Sate Agra National Sprint Championship Final (515 metres) by a length, as a heavily supported $1.60 favourite.

Once again trainer Medhurst had to be content with second placing with the exciting young chaser (), which is raced by well known greyhound racing identities Robyn Johnson and Sharon Sutton.

She’s All Class has now won eleven races in succession and 20 of 25 lifetime and is shaping up as yet another outstanding chaser to have emerged over the years from the Crosswell establishment.

Meanwhile well related bitch High Bella ( – Stylish Moon) returned to the winners list in the first event on Monday night’s LGRC programme.

The Dennis Turner prepared bitch has now won three races and the manner in which she disposed on her rivals suggests that she will now go on with it.

High Bella is a member of the Grubb family bred litter which includes the winners Kiss Me Elvis, Pipstar, Quick Advance, , Sing The Song and Roxy Rhythm.
