Littermates To Dominate Rich Breeders Classic Final

Trainers and Allison Walker have both qualified litter mates for the rich Breeders Classic Final (452 metres) to be conducted at the NWGRC meeting at the Devonport Raceway on Tuesday.

Carrying a stake of almost $10,000 to the winner, the event has attracted a star-studded field of young chasers, with the Deverell prepared ( Head Bound – It’s A She) the likely favourite from the red box.

The fastest semi-final winner with a time of 25.92, Jethro is raced by prominent Devonport owner Leigh Alexander and is the winner of four of seven lifetime outings.

The Penguin based Deverell has prepared many standout chasers over the years, but has declared on several occasions that Jethro is probably the fastest.

Drawn next to Jethro in the Breeders Classic Final in the check box is his litter mate Beaudine, yet to win a race in five outings but also possessed of plenty of ability.

Walker’s best chance of taking home the big prize is the well performed Magic Moss (Big Daddy Cool – Marananga Moss), the winner of four of his only five starts and a 26.16 semi-final victor.

His litter mate Bluffy Lad broke through for his initial win in taking out a semi-final in the time of 26.05, meaning that he was the second fastest semi winner.

The Walker runners have drawn the black and pink on Tuesday afternoon and are likely to provide stern opposition to the Deverell runners.

Leith trainer Gary Johnson prepared the remaining semi-final winner when smart bitch Buckle Up Gaye ( – Buckle Up Tina) prevailed in the time of 26.22.

Raced by the trainer’s wife Robyn, Buckle Up Gaye is the winner of two of her nine starts and will run from the white box in Tuesday’s feature.

Meanwhile outstanding chaser Damek ( Big Daddy Cool – World’s Finest) looks to have a mortgage on the Devonport Show Cup (452 metres), also to be run on Tuesday’s Devonport Raceway programme.

The Peter Phillips owned and prepared chaser will also contest the Wally Lake Memorial (461 metres) at tonight’s HGRC meeting at Park and will no doubt be sent out at a short quote for both assignments.

Damek, one of the best chasers to have raced in in recent years, can boast the enviable record of 41 wins from 51 starts while accumulating a purse of in excess of $93,000.
