Who Is Poisoning Tassie’s Greyhound Puppies?

That's the question long time Tasmanian greyhound, owner, breeder and trainer; wants to find know.

And to help entice people with information to come forward, Phillips and her husband; have posted a $10,000 reward to help catch those responsible for poisoning her puppies.

June Phillips, who is very well known in greyhound circles in Tasmania as the co-ordinator for the Tasmanian Program; was at one stage chairperson of Greyhound Racing Tasmania, and sat on the Greyhound Racing Council of Tasmania

Over recent weeks, Phillips has lost two 10 month old pups in two separate incidents. Veterinary opinion is that both dogs were poisoned.

June Phillips' Copping property has been her base for breeding and training greyhound over a long period of time and currenlty has 15 greyhounds on the property including a further 6 from the same liiet as the poisoned pups.

The two dead pups were euthanased by Vets after prompt Veterinary care could not help them. The two pups became ill 3 weeks apart and after the second pup dies, an autopsy revealed herbicide poisoning. The Phillips' maintain they do not use the herbicide in quesion on the property.

June is now so fearful for her remaining greyhounds, she now keeps them locked up and has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible.

“I don't want it to happen to anyone else, it's awful to see any animal die like that, it's just dreadful,” she said.

“I don't understand how any human being could do something like that.”
