Win Number 59 For The Champ Rewind

The old champ Rewind (Collide – Ricky's Angel) recorded his 59th win at the Raceway on Tuesday when he prevailed in the Simons Carpet Invitation (452 metres).

As is usually the case, he assumed control mid-race as a $1.30 commodity and eventually had five lengths to spare, recording a time of 25.54 as opposed to his best time for the venue 25.31.

Whelped in February 2009, he has now raced on 96 occasions and accumulated a purse of almost $230,000.

No greyhound in the history of the sport in Tasmania has won more races than Rewind, which is owned and prepared at Bracknell by veteran mentor Maurie Strickland.

“I will keep him going for the moment, I know he is getting old but is still very and sound so there is no reason to retire him yet,” Strickland explained after the race.

Meanwhile another veteran of the sport in Tasmania, George Town's Tom Doherty was seen in the winners circle on two occasions at the NWGRC meeting.

Doherty took out the Dowling McCarthy Tyres Juvenile (452 metres) with Moon Breaker ( – Ebony In Charge) and the www..com Grade 5 (452 metres) with Little Miss Take (Path To Power – Miss Rich), to provide him with his first double for many months.
