Tasmanian greyhounds set to receive payouts on swabbed greyhounds prior to clearance
Tasracing will pay owners their share of stakes payments on pre-swab clearance up to $5000 for greyhounds starting from June 1 2023.
Tasracing currently withholds stakes payments to all owners subject to swabs being cleared by the Office of Racing Integrity.
This process usually takes between four to six weeks.
All other state racing jurisdictions in Australia now pay stakes (up to a prescribed limit) prior to swab results.
Under an existing policy, if stakes are paid to owners of animals that are subsequently disqualified, owners will be required to repay any stakes paid out prior to the disqualification.
