Thompson Destined For Inquiry As El Galo B Sample Tests Positive
Greyhound Racing Victoria Stewards have just confirmed to Australian Racing Greyhound that El Galo‘s “B” sample from his $100,000 Group 1 Topgun win has also tested positive to N-Butyl-hyoscine.
The result means that embattled Victorian greyhound trainer Jason Thompson will be facing an inquiry in to El Galo’s Topgun positive swab with in days, with a result possibly due as early as next week.
Australian Racng Greyhound reported back in mid November that El Galo had returned a positive swab on the “A” sample to N-Butyl-hyoscine from his Group 1 Topgun win on October 25th 2008.
In keeping with GRV Rules of Greyhound Racing, Jason Thompson, trainer of El Galo, requested the services of an independent analyst from Probe Analytical to witness the testing of the reserve urine and control samples at Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) on Monday – the ‘B’ sample.
The reserve (B) sample of urine taken from El Galo has reaffirmed the presence of N-Butyl-hyoscine.
An Inquiry into the circumstances surrounding this finding will be held at a date to be fixed, but the hearing could be expected to be heard as early as next week with a finding handed down before the new year.
