Troy Murray Trio Dominate 2011 Strathalbyn Cup Final
The Troy Murray kennel has again dominated the heats of the Strathalbyn Cup run on Sunday winning all three heats.
Last year Troy had six runners engaged in four heats, winning three of them and qualifying five dogs for the Final. He ended up not only training last year's trifecta in the race with his good race bitch Aston Rachael winning, he trained the first five past the post.
This year Troy will again have a big say in the Final qualifying three greyhounds for the $6,000 feature.
The first heat on Sunday was taken out in devastating style by Kalden Mayhem winning by over 6 lengths from Dr. Daniel trained by Shaun Laffin confirming his favouritism for the Final.
The Troy Murray trained flyer who was recently placed in the National Distance Final at Albion Park showed his true class racing away to victory in track record time over the 536m in a slick 30.88 shaving .06 of the previous track record held by Little Looper set in March of 2008.
The second heat also went the way of Murray with Kalden Kamikaze recording a 4 ¾ length victory over the Ken Gill trained Uno Blackjack in a solid 31.25.
The final heat was taken out buy Aston Elite who defeated the Leanne Fagan trained Crafty Lucy by 3 lengths in handy 31.43.
The $6,000 Strathalbyn Cup Final will be run on Sunday the 25th September which also includes a Consolation and other feature races on the program. The winner of the Cup will also gain automatic preference into the Triple M 40th Adelaide Cup heats run on Thursday 6th October.
