After last night’s semi finals of the Group 2 2011 Laurels Classic Final, Irma Bale has put her paw firmly on the till and is looking to join litter brothers Heston Bale and Bekim Bale by stealing some headlines for herself.
A member of one of the most successful litters in recent times, the daughter of Bartim Bale and Amelia Bale, has now won 10 of her 20 career starts and ammassed over $34,000 in prizemoney by leading from the first corner to bolt in by 6.75 lengths in 29.44.
The Paul Wheeler owned and Graeme Bate trained greyhound who turned just 2 years of age in mid October 2009, has drawn box 2 in the final and is a warm favourite to go one better than her dam Amelia Bale, whose one group race appearance produced a fast finishing second placing behind Queen Lauryn in the 2008 Group 1 Sapphire Crown Classic. The Sapphire Crown Classic is the very race which has swapped dates on the Sandown Group race calendar with this Laurels Classic series, and is also a bitches only series.
The other winners were Stetson Donna in 29.56, Elmira Bale in 29.74 and Dyna Dara in 29.91. The full replays of each of the 2011 Laurels Classic Semi Final are below.
