The final of the 2013 Solo Bold Trease makes up part of a stellar evening of racing on Melbourne Cup night this Thursday at Sandown Park. The Bold Trease, raced over the grueling 715 metre journey, is worth a juicy $100,000 to the winner and is race six on the card at 8:57pm.
The race features a wide spectrum of the greyhound staying ranks. From the experience of Destini Fireball, who could well pass the half million dollars in prize money in this race, to the two year old pup Sweet It Is who registered just her second career win last week.
There looks to be plenty of winning chances which should make the event a very open betting affair. Time will tell who can follow in the footsteps of greyhound racing immortals such as last years winner Miata.
Comments: The class runner in this field. Has looked as though he is still a little bit off peak fitness at his last two runs, knocking up in the straight. He should be a lot fitter for last weeks run and could go very close here.
Comments: Was the benificiary of some good fortune in the dying stages of her heat but had worked hard to put herself in that position. She is definitely better than last weeks run and, should she produce her best she could win her second group race in her stellar short career. Definitely one of the major players.
Comments: Finished powerfully to land her heat win after racing on the pace. Has a penchant for the Sandown circuit, despite not flattering on the clock to date. If she can stay in touch with the top couple, she is not out of this.
Comments: Has the propensity to mix box manners but can lead on his day, as he did last week until the dying stages. He will need to replicate that start and find a little more at the finish to feature here. Looks a little tested.
Comments: Finished strongly from just off the speed to win his heat in the fastest time last week. He has broken the 42 second barrier here before and looms as a top chance here if he can overcome the awkward draw.

Comments: Copped some interference late in her heat run in a mixing finish. If she can begin like last week she may put herself in the picture but she does appear more of a place chance than a winning one.
Comments: Ran home ok in the fastest heat of the night in his first look at the track. He has not won since June which is a concern heading into a Group 1 final. I'd be prepared to risk him at this stage.
Comments: The pup of the field who landed his second career win last week at any old odds. That was her first look at the track and she finished like a freight train. The question is whether or not she can replicate that run and get the runs at the right time. A rough hope.
Comments: Found a little bit of trouble in her heat after not beginning as well as usual. If she gains a start she could well lead this field for a long way.

The obvious class in the event lies with Destini Fireball with the only query being his fitness. If Lucy Wires can begin on better terms this week, she will take a power of beating. The main danger to these two looks to be Amity Flame who was the fastest heat winner last week. He will have to overcome box five to put himself in the picture. Sweet It Is and Cheetah Zorro also loom as knockout chances should the winner come from outside of the top three. This looks to be an absolute cracker of a race.
