Avondale Porche Scores A Thrilling Cranbourne Cup Victory

AVONDALE Porche has won the Two Cup in one of the most exciting country cup finishes by the barest of margins from a gallant , who was looking to add to her two previous group final wins.

led easily from box five in an early split of 5.36 from Whodat Knockin’ from box eight. Oakvale Destiny was able to muster up to a clear third and those three cleared out from the rest of the field.

Whodat Knockin’ continued to apply pressure to the early leader, but was unable to pass the -trained star who won in a flying 29.98. Oakvale Destiny provided a thrilling late charge after having limited luck in transit to go down in a thrilling finish.

The win was the biggest win of Avondale Porche’s career and the $45,000 winner’s cheque will take her earnings to $94,935 and her record to 15 wins from just the 20 race starts. The win is a testament to the patience of leading trainer Kel Greenough, who continues to prove himself as a master of bitches.

The daughter of and Micro Lee looked to have the greyhound world at her feet in late 2013, but would spend nearly a year on the sidelines through injury and seasonal issues. The efforts from all involved have proved well worth it, with this star claiming a sensational victory that might just be the tip of the iceberg.

A great win and congratulations to connections. Kel Greenough is one of the most underrated trainers for many years but has been one of our top trainers for years yet doesn’t seem to receive the accolades that he deserves. Well done Kel It just goes to prove that patience is a virtue with these wonderful athletes, how many times do we read on various sites people who give up on their dogs even as early as pre-race training/break-in, perhaps they will learn from this. I have a dog that has just turned two and only now is he showing great potential over 600… Read more »
