Brockie brilliant in Victorian Sprint Championship

CHAMPION greyhound Zambora Brockie has issued a stern warning to his fellow competitors heading towards the Sprint Championship following his emphatic victory at on Saturday night.

Starting from box four in the Victorian Sprint decider, the Anthony Azzopardi-trained dog began cleanly and was able to slip into second spot behind Alpha Demeter (box three) in the early stages.

Heading down the back and the $1.80 favourite was still three lengths off the lamplighter, with the super strong (box five) back in third spot.

Approaching the home turn and Zambora Brockie slipped into top gear, hooking to the outside of the leader and sprinting clear down the centre of the track to score by just under two and a half lengths over Alpha Demeter in a flying 29.66.

The black dog has now won 25 of his 38 starts which also includes victories in the 2015 Group 1 Vic Peters Classic, the 2016 Group 1 , the 2016 Cup and the 2016 Group 2 Cup.

A son of and Flying Liddy, Zambora Brockie will now head towards the group 1 National feature, made up of winners from the various state finals around the country, which is set to be held at Angle Park on Saturday August 27.

If he is successful in the , the win will take his career earnings above $400,000.
