Group 1 Sky Racing 2011 Topgun Invitations Released
Trainers of 30 of the best greyhounds across Australia have been sent a first-round invitation to nominate their stars for this year's Group 1 Sky Racing Topgun to be run at The Meadows on October 22, worth $125,000 to the winner.
In a clear sign of their quality, the first-round invitees (listed below) have won over $3.1 million on the racetrack, with further riches available in Australia's greatest invitation-only spectacular in less than four weeks time.
The Meadows Manager Marg Long said the 2011 version of Group 1 Sky Racing Topgun promises to be a fantastic race.
“What a great list of chasers with an almost endless supply of Group victories and track records among the quality greyhounds. The final field promises to be full of amazing quality, and we can't wait for October 22 to come around.”
The first-round invitees include a lion's share from Victoria and New South Wales, with 15 and nine representatives respectively, with Queensland (three), Tasmania (two) and Western Australia (one) rounding out the list.
The final field for the Group 1 Sky Racing Topgun will be announced on track at The Meadows on October 8 (Saturday night meeting), with the box draw to take place at headquarters on October 15, also during a Saturday night meeting at the track.
Please note: The panel also have a policy whereby exceptional performances by a greyhound between the first and second Topgun panel meetings may justify the extension of a late invitation.
