Luca Neveelk Blitzes Rivals In Ballarat Cup Final

Luca Neveelk (1) confirmed his status as one of the nation’s best sprinters with an emphatic display to take out tonight’s Group Two Ballarat Cup.

Beginning flawlessly from box one, the sone of Talk’s Cheap and It’s A Neveelk went straight to the lead and never looked in danger, cruising to the line to score a comfortable two and one quarter length triumph in a smart 25.06.

Blue Giant (3) ran a massive race at $22 to finish second for Peter Akathiotis. After beginning well from box three, the son of Knocka Norris and Aussie Nicky raced on the outside of Ultima Bale (2) for the majority of the journey before powering clear to claim the runner’s up prize. Ultima Bale held on for third after bumping with Blue Giant on the home turn.

The fastest qualifier, Allen Deed (4), began with the field but was outpaced early and failed to fire from the middle draw.

Trained by Gerry Kleeven, Luca Neveelk started as the $2 favourite and has now won 24 of his 30 career starts. His record also includes a win in October’s Group Two Geelong Cup.

The dynamic blue chaser looks to be one of the most exciting sprinting prospects in the country, with his sizzling early sectionals putting him right into the mix for virtually any race he contests.

At less than two and a half years of age, the sky is the limit for Luca Neveelk.
