Mantra Lad Out Of Nationals, Vintage Octane In

Mantra Lad, the reigning National Distance Champion, has been a shock scratching from tonight’s Victorian National Distance Championship final.

As we reported last week, Mantra Lad only had to go around in tonight’s final to gain the AGRA priority ranking and secure the eighth selection to the National Distance Championship final.

Dissapointingly for connections, tonight’s scratching now means Mantra Lad will not be defending his 2008 National Distance Championship title he won at Wentworth Park, and Vintage Octane now takes the top ranking.

Vintage Octane can now secure a National Distance Championship finals berth by just turning up to tonight’s Victorian National Distance Championship at Sandown.

Should Vintage Octane win the another Victorian National Distance Championship finalist, Jarvis Bale will gaing the AGRA priority ranking.

Prior to last weeks Victorian National Distance Championship heat win Jarvis Bale had yet to win over the distance and had gathered all his AGRA rankings points from sprint races.

Sportsbet are running a pre post market on tonights Victorian National Distance Championship and have installed Amity Bale a $2.10 favourite ahead of Vintage Octane at $4.50 after the scratching of Mantra Lad.
